It's amazing what nature can do in less than 5 months when things just click into place! This inspiring and hot west facing front yard slope was barren, adjacent a little lawn, calling for any plants at all. We stuffed it full of drought loving, mostly West Coast native species, and even squeezed a rain garden into the middle. (It's soaking in our recent heavy early rains beautifully)!

We tried to limit the plant palette, but apparently our best attempt at restraint still results in some substantial diversity (and the resulting "quorum sensing" effects seem to be evident...). Not every garden pops off like this in its first season, but when they do I'm always substantially giddy.
The last few photos are from planting/mulching day in late May 2024, and these others are early October 2024.
