Tryon Creek Restoration

SW Portland, Oregon
This seasonal creek just up slope from Tryon Creek showed evidence of erosion within this overgrown forest filled with invasive ivy, holly, and laurel. First we yanked out the ivy, and dug out the roots of the invasive trees. We pruned up some low branch “fire ladders” from the mature doug firs and cedars, and used what made sense in a series of beaver dam analogue structures within the seasonal creek to slow the flow, catch sediment, mitigating erosion, and filter the water before it enters the creek at large.
